hi, im male 25yo and since i can remember one side of my jaw bone is bigger than the other one as u can see in the picture....

as it is, id like to fix that and have both sides with the same size... actually i really would like to reduce (cut) the little tip on the angle of the left bone and reduce its size to match the right one... i do like better how i look on the right side (so id like to keep it that way, instead of putting an inplant there)......

is that possible? is it too risky, complex procediment? is just a little piece of the bone like half inch or so, would be great if they could sand it down or something like that.... last question how much it would cost approximately? i really would like to do that surgery still this year!! thanks a lot!

btw i dont have any problem with my bite and my teeth are perfectly aligned...

I have a problem similar to yours with right side of my jaw being bigger than the left one. But I'm actually happy with the larger side and want to make the left one look the same. My teeth are not well aligned though, and I'm not sure if I should start with orthodontist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, or a plastic surgeon. It would great if someone would also lead me in the right direction!

I have the same problem but mine was due to trauma, a broken jaw that had to be re-constructed.

After having multiple consultations with different surgeons throughout the country I concluded it would not be feasible to subtract bone from the side that stuck out. This is because a nerve runs along that area and surgeons stay away from it because if it is severed your face will be paralyzed on one side.

That means your only option is to add to the smaller side if you want symmetry. Being that your jaw is already prominent I don't see that as being a good option. My situation is the same.

Hey man, I also have the same thing. My left jaw is more developed than the right. It's exactly like yours ( the side pictures). You probably have a deviated jaw.

Anyway for me, the bottom teeth on my left side is aligned with the top, meaning when I close my mouth they sit on top of each other perfectly. However my right bottom teeth doesn't, it is slightly angled inward a bit so when I close my mouth the top doesn't fit correctly. And I clench my teeth a lot so the left jaw and my left cheek grew more.

Don't know if this is true with you, but if it is, then you might need to look on correcting your jaw. I've been told that its a genetic defect(for me) but it can be fixed.
