i had cheek implants 9 days ago and i'm not too thrilled about the results. they feel kind of big to me. they are combination cheek and midface implants. i can't tell what's swelling and what's the implant because it feels really hard when i press down on it so it's hard to me for me to tell if they are going to stay big or if it's just swelling. can anyone tell me how long after cheek augmentation surgery should i expect to see the 'real' me? it's not that the implants are horrible but i would have liked them a little smaller and i kept saying this to my doctor i mean i bugged that guy over and over about only doing minimal size implants because i don't want a major change.

9 days post op? DON'T WORRY! your face will look totally different a month, two, or three months from now. i thought the same thing too when my sister got them. they looked too big and no form or definition to them i was really disappointed and thought she just wasted a ton of money to look bad. a month later it started looking different and 3 months later they look stunning she's like just drop dead gorgeous now! don't worry the first few weeks you will look big and swollen! her cheeks had so much fluid build up inside it juts made them look nasty after surgery. another thing is the swelling will feel hard like the cheek implants so don't worry about that.

thanks i'm so glad i found this plastic surgery message board. i think they are improving hopefully it is just swelling. i just read on the internet somewhere that it takes up to 12 months for the swelling the resolve after cheek implants. why is it so long it's crazy. the question on the drs website was phrased something like "how long until i can get revision cheek implant surgery" and the doctor replied "you need to wait 12 months until the swelling subsides so we can judge what to change." so that means it lasts 12 months right? if mine can just get 80% better within a month or two i'll be happy.

From what I've digged up on the internet the swelling lasts a long time after surgery so it's really impossible to tell what your cheeks will look like until long after the cheek implant surgery. The other consensus everyone seems to say is they keep getting better and better as time goes on the first year. That means if they're just okay now, they should be good in 3 months, and maybe great or perfect in 6 or 9 months. You just got to wait it out.

Are you still not happy with your cheek implants? I would like to talk to some people that are 6 or 12 months or more post op to find out if they are happy with them or not. lot of people have swelling for months even though the doctors only say it is 2 or 3 weeks. That means you really need to look after 6 or 12 months to know if you like them or not

Wow 9 days is way short of a time to see the REAL results from your surgery. Give it a couple months and check back in.
