Brazilian butt lift is different in the way the procedure is performed. There are several ways to improve the appearance of the buttock and gluteal regions. In the past, surgeons have used butt implants (regular butt lift), which are solid firm silicone pieces. These implants carried the risk of extrusion (coming out of the incision), infection, and displacement. Also, depending on how they were inserted, they could affect the muscles of the butt, as well.

However for people who had a significant weight loss (or after a lab band or gastric by pass surgery) a butt lift can also be done with a scars on the lower back and upper buttocks is because that is often the most effective way to improve the appearance of the "region in question" to remove excess fat, tissue and skin to lift a sagging buttock.
