![]() | Hey guys sorry for asking what may be a dumb question but I have no, zero, zip, nadda idea of how this surgery works! Where do they make the cuts in breast reduction surgery? Do you have different options like you do with breast augmentation? I'm sorry I know I must sound like such a simpleton but I'm a newbie to this! Thank you in advance for putting up with my newbie questions! |

![]() | pound puppy (i loved those when i was a kid!) here this should give you a better idea of the two main types of breast reduction methods: ![]() ![]() the inferior pedicle technique which is also called the keyhole method and weiss pattern reduction. it involves anchor shaped incisions on the outside of the areola as a downward cut that then follows the bottom of the breasts. this keyhole breast reduction method though can cause what i call "video game boobs" or boxy-square looking breasts. vertical scar breast reduction technique aka short scar breast reduction is pretty popular now since there's less scarring and the post-op results are more rounded breasts. |

![]() | Theres two others but they are not used much. liposuction breast reduction this is for breasts that aren't quite as big. best candidates are those with perkier breasts and no drooping nipple since the skin won't be changed. fat is just removed from inside the breasts and of course that isn't as much of a change as other results. it's quicker and easier. free nipple graft breast reduction this ones only used in the most severe cases usually where there was drastic weight loss and a lot of excess skin. the areola and nipple are cut out and replaced higher on the breast's skin. this method results in loss of sensation and more likely to cause damage to prevent or greatly reduce lactating if you plan on having babies. |

![]() | I haven't even heard of liposuction breast reduction before. It doesn't seem like it would be that effective because how much fat is there on the breasts to suck out anyway if you're average weight? |

![]() | yeah liposuction breast reduction is usually used for small changes like fixing asymmetric sizes that are off by a cup size or so. the nice thing is you shouldn't get any major scars with lipo but it also can't do a huge reduction. |

![]() | Anyone here actually done liposuction breast reduction. Seems to me you would be left with a bunch of saggy skin if you removed what is inside. |

![]() | Thanks everyone. Im still on the fence about the whole thing. I've been thinking about it and Im not sure I want a plastic surgeon hacking up my breasts leaving nasty scars that people might take as looking like they were from breast implants! im so lost one day I want it the next day Im against it so I don't know what I will do. I don't think I would need a lot of breast tissue removed so Im not sure its worth the time and hasle or money! |

![]() | If those are the scars on breast reduction that seems pretty invasive to tear your body up like that. I think people should only do it if it's causing back pain or something. If not why put yourself through that kind of surgery? |
