Breast augmentation scar revision?

I have very ugly scars from my breast augmentation / implants and really need to do something about them. They are hideous to look at and I cannot imagine what a man would say when he sees them.

Can you point me please to what I need to do to get rid of these? Should I go with a scar revision surgery or this silicone stuff? I want to file a suit against my surgeon because this was not expected.

I had a breast lift 4 weeks ago and during the consultation the surgeon never mentioned anything about a full anchor mastopexy. The board certified plastic surgeon i went to is in n.y.c. and practices off park ave. & 71st street. Her suggestion was that she could probably do a concentric incision but a vertical incision would obtain more lift. I agreed. I am an A almost B cup and weigh 112 lbs. and being a registered nurse i had done my homework regarding all procedures. The day after the bandages came off I notice the horizontal incisions covered by steri-strips! I was horrified! So many P.S. don't even do full mastopexys anymore. I feel depressed. I cry all the time feel very suicidal. I'm 40 and i waited until i felt the time was right and i felt had chosen the right P.S. I feel betrayed and mutilated. I spent all that money on what?? Scars can't ever be erased! Her P.A. says the scars will fade over time. What consolation is that? She was very condescending. I want to sue but don't know how. Can anyone help me?

You are right ... most docs don't do "real" mastopexies anymore. Grr!

Suing might be difficult. I do not agree with the fact that many surgeons make you sign off (in the immense amounts of paperwork prior to surgery) that if there is an issue, they cannot be held liable. There needs to be some legislation created about this.

On a happier note, 4 weeks is still very early in the scar healing process. They WILL improve. To what degree I am unsure. Can you post pics?

I think you should speak to a mental health professional regarding your depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation. Suicide is never the answer. I am speaking as a professional. Recourse will be avaiable in some form (healing, acceptance, revision, etc.).

If you are depressed you should certainly speak with a professional.

You should know though, that it is normal to feel down during recovery. With breast augmentation and most other procedures, it will take months for the scars and swelling to improve. Any scar will not look the best after only 4 weeks post op.

If you would like to post a picture of the scar, I will give you my honest opinion on how well I think it will heal. Speaking of scars, have you visited the scar revision forum on this site? There are people suffering from scarring much worse than even the most severe breast augmentation scar.
