Does insurance cover breast reduction? hello Is it possible to get my insurance to cover a breast reduction procedure? Has anyone done this before? What are the restrictions? |
I have heard they cover it if you have major weight loss surgery and lose a ton of weight and have hanging skin. Other than that I doubt you will be able to get it covered by insurance. Your best bet would be to find a cheap plastic surgeon if money is a problem. |
As gastric bypass surgeries (including roux-en-y as well as lapband surgeries) are becoming more common, the insurance companies are becoming more stringent with their guidelines. If you have a very supportive primary care physician (general practitioner) he or she might be able to help you by writing letters to your insurance company. |
You also have to have a BMI proving you are not overweight for the insurance companies to even consider payng for the surgery, ESPECIALLY after weight loss surgery. |
