Saline vs silicone gel breast implants - Any advice/thoughts?
 

I am not sure if I should go with Saline or Silicone implants. I really want a natural look. But I'm nervous that the silicone could leak. But silicone seems to look more natural. What do you have? And are you happy with them?

Well from what I hear the silicone in today's breast implants (since the FDA approved them again) is different than the silicone used before... it's a thicker gel that does a better job staying in one area if it leaks, or at least that's what the manufacturers claim.

If the highest safety is what you want, then I guess that means saline breast implants would be the way to go (because they are still the safest if they leak). BUT I personally would feel pretty safe with saline or silicone.

I have saline implants and I'm very happy with them. I think they are pretty soft and look very natural.

I am just as confused and worried . Which one IS better?:confused: I need to have mamograms every year (34 yrs old) . My mom dies from b.cancer so I have to be routinely checked. Ugh..and of course, my family dr says that implants are not safe so why bother? She sure is no help!!!

I had silcone implants put in under the muscle is gives you the most natural look, and feel more natural. In the doctor's office I held both a silicon and a salline implant and there is a huge difference. The saline is alot more liqiud feeling, it kinda sloshed around in my hand. Also, the gel is totally safe these days, even if there is a tear in the implant. My doctor had actually cut a gel implant in half, and the gel is in such a state that it didnt fall or leak out of the inplant, it was still in place, it was kinda weird, but totally put my mind at ease.

I have seen spectacular results with saline under the muscle, too! I don't think it's only silicone that can look natural. The most important part is having them positioned right and the doctor using the right size and shape, don't you think?

I would also agree on silicone over saline. Silicone feels better and from my understanding, is not as dangerous as people tend to believe.

I am new to the forum and I am glad to be hear, lot's of good information. I would like to get implants and I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good plastic surgeon in Atlanta. I want my implants to look natural and I am interested in silicone. Any recommendations? Thank you!:p
