Is $17k too much to pay?

Hi everyone,
I'm back with another question and while some may not be able to help or offer an opinion I'm hoping someone can.

As mentioned in a previous forum I'm looking to do a BA with a lift and tummy tuck w/ lipo. I've been to 3 consultations thus far and all 3 are excellent but the work from the first surgeon sticks out the most in my mind.

He's really gifted and is asking for approx. $17k for all procedures (separate procedures were quoted @ $21k). I may not need a lift which may knock off $2-3k but he's still REALLY expensive.

My question is, how much is TOO MUCH to pay for all of these procedures??? I've read that as a patient I should eliminate the highest and the lowest estimates but I'd like feedback from those who have gone thru similar procedures.

Thanks in advance for any feedback/opinions.

Eliminating the highest and lowest price quotes is definitely not the way to determine which surgeon is appropriate for your surgery. Basing it on the aforementioned is also not the way to choose a surgeon. Pricey does not always equal good work. You should be selecting your doc based upon skill, expertise, and experience, just to name a few factors.

Implants range from $4,000 to $10,000. Lifts range from $3,500 to $6,000. Tummy tucks range from $3,000 to $8,500. Lipo on both the upper and lower addomen costs between $3,000 to $7,500. Lower abdomen lipo usually costs about $2,000. Combining procedures will lower your cost. You also have to consider fees for anesthesia, facility fees, and surgeon fees.

Instead of focusing on the price, why not discuss the surgeon you are considering with the forum members?

Thanks for your reply Robyne, I am receiving alot of info and you've provided me with more as far as pricing is concerned.

I've met one doctor who does phenomenal work so I might just go with him.

Who is the doc? Maybe some of the forum members might have some input.

17K sounds like a lot BUT you should not focus on the price. You have to focus on your surgeon's skills, credentials, experience, reviews, etc... I'm from FL and I got a breast aug done in December 2009. I went to 15 plastic surgeons before getting my surgery done. The prices here in South Florida range from $2,800 to $7,000. I ended up going with the plastic surgeon I felt I could trust 100%. He had excellent credentials, reviews, clean background, worked with board certified anesthesiologists, etc... he had everything I was looking for. His price was $4,850 but I know it was worth it! So make sure you do your homework before signing with your surgeon. I'm so glad I took my time looking for my surgeon. Good luck!
