A new study just came out about botox published in the Journal of Neuroscience. A case study was done using rats and Botox. It was found that the botulism enters their brain stems and not just the areas it is injected. It took as little as three days for the Botox to breakdown and enter the stem of the brain. This disrupted brain cell activity and the effects lasted for 6 months. They said it messes with the communication through the nerve cells and the spine. Further studies need to be done to see if this happens in humans. Does this worry anyone? I now have second thoughts about Botox.

On a nurse-to-nurse level

this is worrying. You probably can't even ever find out if and how the Botox travels to the brain? If it's only having a small impact there's no tests or anything on humans that I think will show it. But over time that could really screw you up and you might just say it's from getting old or something. I think it's pretty scary we should all go easy on the Botox flat foreheads.

This is very scary to think about. Did it say if the Botox does permanent damage to the brain or if it goes away after the Botox is gone? Either way this is quite frightening!

This news has really frightened me. I was thinking of getting this treatment, but now I am thinking that I am fine without it, I don't want to go mad or something.
