It is suppose to stop you from sweating too much in places like your arm pits, hands, face, or whatever area is a problem. How good does this work for that stuff anyway? I hear insurance are not paying for Botox for Hyperhidrosis but am not for sure. I sweat like a pig on the palms of my hand. It's really embaressing to shake peoples hands or touch something and then get it wet. I know there's a surgery they can do for it where they cut your nerves but that sounds a little freaky weaky or me. I'd rather just get a shot I just wanna know if it works and if it does how much insurance covers on it?

Anne, Botox injections for hyperhidrosis are extremely effective and is not permanent unlike the surgery you spoke of. That being said the surgery can create permanent problems including but not limited to new excess sweating in other areas. I would highly recommend getting the Botox if you are suffering from this. If you do please update us how it goes.

wait a second versace if you shut off sweat glands with botox though wouldn't it make other ones just work harder? like if u did your armpits i would think your chest and back would just sweat more.

I have not heard of this being a side effect for my patients who receive Botox for Hyperhydrosis. This technique is typically used for either excessively sweaty palms or underarms, and is very effective. The results will last about 3-6 months, but most often with my patients, they have tried all topical treatments and nothing else worked.
