I'm sooo not happy with where my scars are from my arm lift. I had thought I had everything covered beforehand for this - took the time to choose the surgeon - chose the closure method - chose the post-op treatments but the one thing I didn't anticipate is where the plastic surgeon would put the scars on my arm! The are in the back of the arms so when my arms at my side you can see them. Even strangers can now see I've had an arm lift. He said that he was required to put them there because of where my arteries were. But then why couldn't he see the arteries before surgery? You need to WATCH OUT and MAKE SURE your surgeon doesn't do this!

How awful! What are you using for scar treatment? They make these silicone sheets you can cut into strips to use. I would us some of those and a good vitamin E ointment should help. I use this one made with onion extracts you can buy at any pharmacy. I forgot the name but that is the one I like. How long post op are you right now?

I'm almost a month and a half post op. My doctor told me to wait about this long before I start using scar stuff so I'm just about ready to pick out what Im going to use. I used this cream called Scarzone in the past on a scar and it didn't do didily squat. Are these silicone sheets effective? I just want to make sure I use something that works. Thanks for your advice.

The silicone scar sheets usually work but the real bummer is you need to wear them 24/7 for months for the results. The other thing is they aren't cheap they come in like a small rectangle about the size of a regular photograph and that's $80. You only need to cover the actual scar so you can cut tiny strips that are like a half inch wide just to cover your incision and the good silicone sheets are reusable for a few weeks. The creams never worked for me and they always came off just from your clothes sleeping or whatever and I think these silicone treatments only work if they're on you almost all the time. I know they have a rub in silicone cream you can apply a few times a day but that never worked for me. Do you mind wearing the silicone sheets all the time for a few months?

I ordered some of those silicone scar sheets online. It said they could be used over and over again for a few weeks so I'm hoping only one sheet will last me because it was nearly 80 bucks. I looked at the ones they sold at the store and they seemed junky My doctor said people use them and the only last a few applications so they end up not being any cheaper. I guess I'll see how these work out! should I ever use them with scar cream too or just use the sheets?

It is very bad that your surgeon didn't tell you about it before the surgery.
I don't think he had proper knowledge about it.
And about your scars, silicon sheets will do the job. It is better not to use the whole sheet for a single time. You should cut it into small pieces and then use it. They are very costly. There are also some more expensive sheets that you can use 5-8 times. So choose according to your needs.
